The year I turned 60, I drove every state in America. Not the tourist version — the honest version. From the Iowa field where history happened to Mount Rushmore the morning after, to the light on a Lake Michigan harbor at dawn. One camera. One year. Every story worth telling.

At 60, I walked away from four decades of lighting design and pointed my camera at something I’d been putting off — my own story. What followed wasn’t retirement. It was reconstruction. Every road trip, every national park, every conversation with a stranger who turned out to be anything but … it all became material for figuring out what a meaningful second act actually looks like.

What Changes When You Finally Learn To See Light
Most people photograph national parks from the same overlooks at the same time of day. They get the same shot everyone else got.
Light has a different opinion about when to show up. It favors the patient, the early, and the slightly obsessive. I’ve spent a long time learning to listen to it, and this site is built around sharing what I hear.
For anyone willing to slow down long enough to look.
